Located in the heart of Kensington, here at The Egerton we're rather well set up for those who enjoy a little shopping during their stay. This curated day moves through the city’s most stylish neighbourhoods – from Knightsbridge’s grand institutions to Marylebone’s quieter corners – blending iconic shops, hidden ateliers, and moments of pause along the way. A gentle rhythm of browsing, tasting, and discovering, designed for guests who prefer their retail therapy with a touch of elegance.

For guests who would like their day curated rather than self-directed, please do not hesitate to contact our Concierge. We also work with London Shopping Tours – expert stylists who will build a bespoke retail itinerary around your wardrobe, taste, and budget, handling everything from appointments to carrying bags. Particularly useful for those short on time or seeking access beyond the standard retail floor.

King's Road, Chelsea

King's Road, Chelsea

MORNING: KNIGHTSBRIDGE & THE KING'S ROAD

Begin with Harrods – not for the crowds, but for the Food Hall, which remains one of the great theatre sets of London retail. The Georgian Restaurant on the fourth floor is ideal for a quiet breakfast before the day begins in earnest. From there, walk to Harvey Nichols and into the network of Chelsea side streets. King's Road, once the catwalk of the 1960s counterculture, still has independent shops worth finding between the chains. Designers Guild on the King's Road is the place in London for beautiful fabric and interiors. Even if you are not buying, it is worth stepping inside.

LATE MORNING: SLOANE STREET TO DUKE OF YORK SQUARE

Sloane Street carries the established luxury houses – Chanel, Hermès, Dior – but Duke of York Square, just off the King's Road, is an interesting stop: a curated mix of boutiques, beauty brands, and the Saturday Farmers' Market (if visiting at the weekend) that supplies a number of the neighbourhood's kitchens.

LUNCH: A CHELSEA PAUSE

Colbert on Sloane Square is a reliable all-day brasserie in the French tradition – good for a long lunch or a quick plate. For something lighter, Daylesford Organic on Sloane Avenue does exceptional salads and soups using produce from their Cotswolds farm. Either works well as a midday reset.

AFTERNOON: MARYLEBONE'S QUIETER PLEASURES

Take a taxi north to Marylebone High Street – a self-contained village of excellent independent shops. Daunt Books, with its long oak galleries and skylights, is one of the most beautiful bookshops in the world. On Chiltern Street, Cire Trudon – candlemakers to the French court since 1643 – make perhaps the finest candles in existence. Their Abd El Kader (mint and tea) is exceptional.

Tucked into a side street, John Boyd Hats is one of London's last remaining milliners. Founded by the late John Boyd – milliner to Queen Elizabeth II – the workroom is now in the hands of Sarah Marshall, his protégée, who continues the tradition of hand-crafted couture millinery. This is not a shop in the conventional sense; it is a studio. A consultation with Sarah is an experience in itself, and a made-to-measure hat takes the idea of a London souvenir to an entirely different level. Please ask the Concierge to arrange an introduction.

EVENING: A STYLISH FINISH

Bring the day to an end in our very own Drawing Room, where you can reward your exertions with a comforting selection from our all-day menu, be it gnocchi, fish & chips, or a cheese toastie. As there's no place in London with a more legendary reputation for martinis, whether it's a classic, vesper or premium pour, there's only one way to give the night the fitting finale it deserves.

London reveals its best self when explored with curiosity and a touch of elegance.
