One of London’s best martini spots

A brief history

The classic Martini

We start with a frozen glass, chilled to 22 degrees below. A dash of vermouth first, then gin as cold as the glass. It’s poured all the way to the rim, so there’s only one way to drink it: our trademark Egerton Slurp. Trust us – it’s the only way to avoid spilling a single drop.

We normally finish things off with a single squeeze of lemon rind, nothing more, nothing less. Times have changed since the first martinis 130 years ago though, so if you prefer vodka to gin, we’re happy to make the switch.

We strongly advise one thing: whatever the spirit, treat it gently. As far as we’re concerned, our martinis are never shaken, never stirred, always perfect.

Martini Masterclass

Our Martini Masterclass, led by our talented bar team, is the perfect dose of informative and enjoyable (not to mention delicious). Commencing with an introduction to this beloved cocktail, our Bar Manager, Sahbi, will begin by explaining the history and origins of the martini. You will learn a little bit about his own background and discover his top tips to make the perfect martini yourself. There will then be the opportunity to taste the magnificent martini creations, curated using homemade syrups, and enjoy a selection of delicate, seasonal canapés created by our talented Head Chef, David.

Price: £35 per person | £70 for two people

More Martini...?

In recent years, interest in the Vesper martini, James Bond’s martini of choice in Casino Royale, has surged. Bond’s own recipe of gin, vodka and Lillet Blanc is also the favoured martini of our own Head Barman, Sahbi.

The four flavoured shaken martinis offered at The Egerton – lychee, passionfruit, cherry and pomegranate – rely on syrups that are ethically sourced from Sahbi’s own family farm in Tunisia, where they are also distilled. The process is not only environmentally conscious, but also ensures the finest ingredients are used to provide an unforgettable martini experience.
